The SE22 Piano School is a busy private piano teaching practice situated in the heart of East Dulwich. The school was founded in 2007 by Lorraine Liyanage. We currently have 6 teachers working here 7 days a week. We teach classical and jazz piano, harpsichord, singing and music theory. We don’t just teach children; we have many adult students ranging from beginner to Diploma level. We organise plenty of social opportunities for our students including Amateur Music Groups, piano festivals, school trips and regular recitals. [Events]
We also offer Music Aptitude Test training for musicians that are applying for Music Scholarship positions at local schools such as Haberdashers’ Aske’s (HABS), Prendergast Hilly Fields and Kingsdale. Our training sessions are open to all students, not just SE22 Piano School students.
We believe that a piano lesson is much more than just a weekly lesson. We offer a full music experience to our students to create well-rounded musicians.
In addition to piano lessons we offer:
- Accompaniment for graded music exams. We regularly accompany exam candidates at Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and the Camberwell Centre at Stillness School. Other centres can be organised by prior arrangement.
- Pianists for Weddings, Birthday Parties and Events. Lorraine and Claire perform regularly at local venues such as The Old Library at Dulwich College which is a popular wedding venue that has a grand piano and also LASSCO in Brunswick House.
