Do you have a child in Year 5 and you’re wondering what the Music Aptitude Test is all about? The test is used by many local state secondary schools as part of their Music Scholarship assessment. Have a read of our article to help you navigate the state school scholarship system.

Here’s a video with samples of the kinds of tests you may hear in the Round 1 aptitude test. We can help with individual or group lessons to prepare you for the MAT and also the audition stage. October Group Workshop: Music Scholarship

Join us at the SE22 Piano School in East Dulwich, South London for a group workshop preparing students for upcoming Round 2 Music Auditions:  October workshop.

Workshop leader: Lorraine Liyanage, SE22 Piano School

This session is to help young musicians prepare for the upcoming Music Scholarship Auditions for 2019 state secondary admissions. The session will focus on preparing students for the Music Audition. There will be a maximum of 5 participants per session.

Please bring your instrument(s) and music including the accompaniment part or backing track on a USB stick or email the part to us in advance.

The session is as follows:

1) Performance of your audition pieces.

2) Preparation for the interview.

Session duration is determined by the number of participants. Arrival from 6.20pm for a 6.30pm start. Please note that we are teaching until 6.20pm so if you arrive early, please wait outside and the workshop leader will come and get you at this time. This is a drop-off session. At the end of the session we will go through the areas that need focus and attention.
