Music Scholarship & Aptitude Test training with Lorraine Liyanage at the SE22 Piano School

I am available on selected dates in June to August 2021 in East Dulwich to prepare young musicians for the upcoming state secondary music scholarship assessments. We can either work on the general music audition for schools such as Kingsdale or the multiple choice Music Aptitude Test for schools such as Prendergast and Habs. For the latter, you will have completed at least 2 of the Music Aptitude Tests before attending this session. If you have not completed any multiple choice tests, please book a session with Mirna instead and she will take you through the basics of the MAT.

Do bring along two well-prepared pieces for instrument or voice to perform. If there is a backing track, please have the sound file available on your phone to play on the day. Alternatively you can bring the sheet music accompaniment with you.

The session will be tailored to your exact needs which will be discussed at the start of the lesson. Please note that no email support is offered before or after the session so please ensure you ask all your questions during the 1 hour session. The lesson is on Zoom unless stated otherwise.

This session cannot be refunded or rescheduled if you cannot attend for any reason.

2015 Music Aptitude Tests for Secondary School entry

It’s that time of year again when the Music Aptitude Test applications are due for State Secondary Schools. Many of our students use these tests for their scholarship applications to Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation, Prendergast Hilly Fields, Kingsdale and many more schools. These are just some of the South London schools using the test. We recommend these specimen tests to help you prepare for this rather unusual test! Only students that successfully pass this test will be invited back to audition on their instrument(s).

Here is one of our students taking the test. The questions are all clearly announced and there are 4 sections to each test with either 10 or 20 questions. Tuesday 22 July 6.15pm: Seminar on Music Scholarship places to local secondary schools in East Dulwich / South London

If you are interested in finding more about Music Scholarship places to local secondary schools such as Kingsdale or Haberdashers Aske’s Federation and South London private schools, then come along to an informal seminar. This will cover the application process for 2015 entry, the selection and audition process, the Music Aptitude Test and suitable audition repertoire. Private school entry also covered for Alleyn’s, JAGS, St Dunstan’s, Dulwich College, Sydenham High & other South London schools.

The Seminar takes place monthly in East Dulwich.
