Clementi Piano Competition 2017: Entries Now Open

London Piano Competition for Under 18sFollowing the success of the first Clementi Piano Festival held in March 2016 at the composer’s former home in Kensington, we are delighted to announce that the event will run again in February 2017 at Clementi House in Kensington.

The piano competition will be held all day from 10am to 5pm. with the junior classes in the morning progressing through to senior levels in the afternoon. The competition is divided into eight graded classes from 1 to 8. The competition is open to students aged 17 and under.

Performers interested in participating should send the following information by email to londonpianoevents@gmail.com. A link to book tickets for the competition will be sent to you upon receipt of complete information:

*If the pianist does not enter graded exams, please ensure the teacher has provided accurate information on current playing level and projected playing level by February 2017.


London-Clementi-Piano-CompetitionEach class will have a Set short Prelude and Piece by Clementi. We are currently compiling the syllabus and we welcome input from teachers for suggested repertoire by Clementi. We anticipate the syllabus will be released on 1st June.

All competitors receive written feedback and a certificate. All classes have medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Three trophies will be available for high scorers at Junior, Intermediate and Advanced level.

Dear Pianists

It was lovely to see so many of you yesterday at the Dulwich Festival Fair on Goose Green! Today I will be teaching Alexandra’s students so that I can hear how your pieces are coming along for the Informal Student Piano Recital on Sunday 22 May. There are still a few places available but do sign up this week and make sure you have emailed me details of your pieces by Friday so that I can put together the printed programme this weekend. Tickets can only be booked online and will be on sale until 5pm on Friday 13th May.

Next Payment for Piano Lessons

Payment is due on 23 May. Pippa will be invoicing issues next week for the final half-term of the academic year. Lesson times remain the same for September but do get in touch if you would like to request another day or time and I will see what I can do. The Payment Schedule and terms and conditions for lessons can be viewed below.

Exam candidates should read through the comprehensive guide to preparing for an exam which details the daily practice that you should be doing for your upcoming exam. Practice Charts for Grades 1 to 4 are also available as printable PDFs. Please print and fill this in weekly and show to your teacher.

Finally, I have a solo harpsichord recital on 19 June at 5pm at The Asylum @ Caroline Gardens’ Chapel and it would be wonderful to see you there. Entry is free for Under 18s. Tickets for adults are £10 and can be booked online.

Junior Piano Competition

Announcing a Junior Piano Competition this Autumn in Waterloo. Priority ticket booking is now open for students of EPTA and ISM members: https://billetto.co.uk/search?text=piano+competition

All pianists will perform on a Steinway C grand piano. A panel of three adjudicators will listen to performances, offer verbal feedback and masterclasses (where time permits). Each class has a trophy for 1st place and medals for 2nd and 3rd place. All competitors receive a certificate and written feedback.

Grades 1 & 2
Up to 3 pieces from any current graded exam syllabus (without repeats).

Grades 3 – 5
Up to 3 pieces from any current graded exam syllabus (without repeats).

Grades 6 – 8
ONE piece from a current graded exam syllabus (without repeats).
