Our students competed in the Blackheath Music Festival adjudicated by James Kirby.
Alanna achieved a Distinction mark for her performance of Shostakovich’s Concerto no.2, 2nd movement. Here is Alanna rehearsing the piece a week before the competition.

Safiya achieved 2nd place in the 8 and under Recital class with the highest award category of “Outstanding”.
Well done to all competitors. We look forward to returning to the festival next year.
3 DJ’s wirelessly beaming music to your ears! 3 channels to choose from at a flick of a switch on the headphones. 14 year old DJ Greatorex will play Jungle, glitch hop, 17 year old Tom will play chill-step and dance. If you don’t understand that then good, you’re not supposed to, just get your teenagers a ticket thru the festival website:

Cost: £10. Also give your kids £5 for refundable headphones deposit and a bit of extra cash for snacks and refreshments. No parents or neighbours to annoy! Drop off from 7:30, and pick up by 10pm. St Barnabas Parish Hall, Dulwich Village Se21 7BT.
As 3rd DJ, Aquamanda will be playing current chart pop & disco classics. Aquamanda is CRB checked and plays regularly at The Rollerdisco in Vauxhall so does DJ Greatorex so it should be a great night.
The SE22 Piano School is holding a group theory revision session on Saturday 1st of June 2013. The ABRSM Theory exams take place on Saturday 15 June.
The 10am session is for Grade 1 & 2 students. The session will cover all the required elements of the ABRSM music theory exam including key signatures and Italian terms. After the group sessions, students will sit a mock exam paper which will be marked before the session finishes.
The session is 2 hours long.
Higher grades are available by request on the same day.
